Catholic and Jewish educators will gather at Yavneh Day School in Kenwood later this month for a dinner and enrichment workshop sponsored by the Archdiocese Department of Educational Services and The American Jewish Committee. The topic will be “Retelling our Stories: A Closer Look at Passover and Easter”. Presenters will be Rabbi Laurence Edwards and Sister Mary Ellen Coombe, both of Chicago. Rabbi Edwards and Sister Mary Ellen presented at the first Catholic-Jewish Educators dinner here last spring, and have led numerous such workshops together.
Workshop topics will explore common themes of Passover and Easter, in the tradition of “re-telling” , set in a context of interreligious dialogue and joint learning. Questions include: What do Jews need to know about Easter? How do Christians relate to Passover? Was the Last Supper a Seder?
The event will be from 5:45 to 8:30 p.m. Registration is $10, payable to
AJC, by March 17. For more information or a full brochure, contact Sr. Elaine
Becker (Archdiocese) at 421-3131, or Barbara Glueck (AJC) at 621-4020.
